Get a realistic range for how long your project will take, from permitting through final walkthrough. Weather, material lead times, and change orders are the most common causes of delay beyond this estimate.

How this estimate is calculated

We start from typical phase durations for each project type at a common size, then scale for your square footage, add time for permitting if your project needs it, and adjust for how many crews are realistically available to work on the job at once.

Structural projects (remodels, additions, new builds, garages) move through demolition, framing, rough-in of electrical and plumbing, finishing, and final inspection. Surface-level projects (roofing, painting, flooring, decks) skip the structural and rough-in phases and move faster from prep straight to installation.

This is a planning estimate, not a schedule commitment. Your contractor’s bid should include a firm timeline based on their current workload and your specific site conditions.
